Cycle Lights
If you want to cycle at night then lights are absolutely essential and they are advisable if you are going to cycle during the dawn or dusk.
Lights fall into three main types. Standard lights, dynamo and rechargable.
Standard Bike Lights
These are the main lights that most people have. Go for the brightest lights you can afford. Espicially the back light, you want to light up the road and ensure you are visable from the sides as well as the back. Cateye do very good lights and for most people are the first choice.
Dynamo Lights
Dynamo lights have come along a long way from the old days. Now they use magnets to produce the power and do not put a strain on your pedalling. Some even have a battery back up to continue operation when you are not moving.
Rechargable Lights
Rechargable lights tend to have a separate battery pack mounted on the bike powering a super bright HID light. These rechargable batteries can be removed and charged up at home.
